Inspiration
Original final piece planning |
The original idea behind the final piece was to have 3 frames which all had images which represent the feeling of being trapped. I then wanted to put water on top of the image to emphasise how water can cause the feeling of being trapped, through the element of control (can't survive without it, can't stray to far away). The water being physically on top of the pictures rather than edited on reflects physical. The images themselves are to been seen as someone reaching out, trying to break free.
To take the images I used studio lighting, a fast shutter speed and medium aperture as I didn't want my images to be too bright as they are there to represent a dark side. To edit them I layered a black and white filter over the images and altered the brightness and contrast slightly to create the look I wanted. I originally planned to put blue food colouring and water into a plastic wallet and out that between the image and the glass, however through experimentation I found this didn't work as the wallets leaked. I therefore came up with the idea of the audience creating the water effect. I therefore printing my images normally and putting them into a normal frame with an inner frame specific to the size of my image. I then bought a spray bottle and filled it with water and blue food colouring. |
Instructions -
1. Lay the frames flat, in order (frames are numbered 1-3 on the back)
2. Hold spray bottle 10-20cms away from picture.
3. Spray directly onto the glass multiple times all over the image.
Below there are 4 images showing the stages of the picture; before, during and after the water has been sprayed onto the glass. The third and fourth images show the effect I have in mind when presenting my final piece.
