Own idea one
I planned this shoot so that both elements directly contrasted each other. The idea behind this element of the shoot is to represent experienced
and long and fulfilled life returning to nature. The hand reaching into the water is to show how we go back to where we came from, back to the earth. I used someone with an old looking hand for this shoot as it makes the message more understandable, it represents old age therefore coming to the end of a life. To take these images I used a fast shutter speed with a wide aperture to get a still bright image. I took lots of pictures from different angles and of the hand in different positions just to give me a wider range when if came to choosing some. To edit my images I simply cropped the images to make them square but also to cancel out any of the bits that i didn't want in my image, these where things that would take attention away from the hand and water etc. I then added the black and white filter and on this I altered colour levels to how I wanted, next I added a brightness and contrast filter in which I lowered the brightness and increased the contrast of the image. This enhanced the wrinkles on the hand and made the reflection in the more prominent. I thought this was a key part of some images as it shows memories and looking back upon life.

Development
The idea behind my development edits where to directly contrast the original shoot, in both image and in theory. The meaning behind the development edits are to show the birth of something new; a new life fresh and lively. The hand reaching up represents the evolution like plants grow up and bloom more beautifully, the same happens with people, from the moment they're born they grow and become this unique and amazing person. The clouds of water are to represent the role water plays in this, it aids us along our journey, present through good and bad times. The blue is there as a burst of colour to show life, blue in particular as it is stereotypically linked to water. To take my images of the water I simply used a clear square fish tank and filled it with water then slowly poured blue food colouring into the tank. I did this a few times the first two times I gently dropped some in the third attempt I poured it in creating a much more dense burst of colour. I used a fast shutter speed and wide aperture to take the images, this created still bright images which is exactly what I wanted. To edit the images I started off with the image of the hand, I increased brightness and contrast and added a black and white filter. I then used clone tool to remove the bottom part of the arm, on a low opacity and soft edges I used a large rubber tool to make the wrist feather out a little bit more. I then edited the image of the water separately cropping it down and increased the brightness and contrast a little. I then added this over the other edit and adjusted it to the right position. I then used the rubbed tool to remove and left over background and then at a very low opacity went over the top part off the water to blend it in.
