Inspiration
The idea behind my final piece is to represent how emotion is hidden, not everyone shows the emotions they are feeling. The mannequin is there to represent people in general (different race, age etc) I did this through tearing up different shades of skin and doing a collage type effect all over the body. I left the head completely clear as I feel this is the most identifiable area on the body through facial features and hair, by leaving it blank it prevents the piece being specific to one person therefore making it relate-able. I wrote words of emotion onto the mannequin in the areas where you wouldn't be able to see on someone daily, areas people don't show, this was to show how we hide our emotions. To take my images I used a well lit area and simply took many different images of areas all over the body to create the look of different skin tones. I then cropped down the images I liked so that the skin fit the frame. I printed them off onto relatively thin paper (70gsm) I then roughly ripped the paper into different sized pieces to show a variety of shapes and sizes as seen in the human form. I then mixed a glue and water ratio of 2 parts glue 1 part water, just to thin the glue and make it easier to spread. I spread it onto the back of the paper lightly so I didn't saturate it then pressed down onto the mannequin and continued until the body was covered. I then used a mixture of thick and thin black pens to write various sized words to highlight different emotions to represent how some emotions impact people in different ways. I wrote them in specific areas which I would perceive as hidden.
