Unknown artist
I chose to use this artist as I felt as though the images linked in well with my project. To me the artist's image represents a darkness and lack of individuality due to the fact that the model in the artist's image is unrecognisable dressed in dark clothing simply appearing as a figure. I feel like this represents the lack of identity we all have as a society. We are lead to believe we are individual but actually we aren't as we all suffer the same control, as a living being we are all consumed by need for water and by the devastation of it's effects.
The artist's image itself was taken in a specific environment which was right for lighting and effect. It was taken on a dark and rainy day this enabled the water to run down the glass e.g. car windscreen adding effect to the image. Due to the settings of the camera the artist achieved a shallow depth of field focusing on the raindrops them selves, this leaving the model and background out of focus slightly.
To recreate these images I used a spray bottle on the windscreen of my car to create the desired direction and level of transparency of the water (the more I sprayed the more the water droplets combined making the screen more see through). I took my images on a cloudy day in dull conditions to get my desired lighting. I set my camera to a fast shutter speed and wide aperture this meant that light was let through however, captured a still image this was key while photographing moving water and people. I used a low/moderate ISO leaving me with a good light sensitivity for this project. To edit my images I simply used black and white filter and played around with colour levels for that to get the desired effect. I then played around with the brightness and contrast of the images so they where slightly duller. Then the last thing I did was crop the images to remove any excess negative space.

M.Salim Bhayangkara
Bhayangkara is a women's portraiture photographer, his images vary between genres; from fashion to wedding. The image I am using as my development as wanted to recreate the original shoot but closer with my model as more of a centre piece. Bhayangkara's image is quite dark black and grey tones, I feel as though this sets a darker tone which is key for fitting into my project. The dark background and frontal lighting creates more emphasis on the water droplets on the glass highlighting the translucent message. I feel as though his work represents pain and suffering due to the expression on the models face and the body language being portrayed.
To recreate the image I positioned my model behind a wet piece of glass with water droplets on it and had her pose in similar ways to Bhayangkara's. I used a fast shutter speed, medium aperture and average ISO because I wanted the image to be quite dull but the glass to be well lit. To edit my images I increased the brightness and contrast as this emphasised the water droplets more and darkened the background making my subject stand out more.
